Originally broadcast in 1973, Rainer Werner Fassbinder's two-part science-fiction mini series set in a computer-generated 'other world' pre-dates the similarly themed THE MATRIX by more than a quarter of a century. Simulacron 1 is an advanced project used to create a virtual reality that is inhabited by computer-generated people. When the project's overseer dies under mysterious circumstances his successor, Dr Stiller must uncover the truth before he too is consumed by the artificial intelligence powering the project.
