Red Beans & Taters
John Conn
Red Beans & Taters is the story of one man's childhood in rural Texas, where red beans and potatoes were a staple and the kids knew that when you are hungry, being too proud to accept charity is not an option. The household, which included ten children, was poor, but although they were not a demonstrative family, there was plenty of love to go around. Filled with fun anecdotes, heartbreaking loss, and a deep respect for the hardworking people who raised him, John's memoir is an honest and uplifting read.
