Henry V: the Graphic Novel: Plain Text

Marc Notes: 012-up.; A graphic novel adaptation of Shakespeare's drama about Henry V.; The complete play, translated into plain English--Cover. Publisher Marketing: Shakespeare's rousing tale of war and peace between England and France during the reign of Henry V springs to life in this unabridged, full-color graphic adaptation. Every scene, every speech, and every battle is here, from Once more unto the breach to the decisive Battle of Agincourt, all in Shakespeare's original language. The lively illustrations accurately depict the era's costumes and settings. John Shakespeare's marriage with Mary Arden doubtless took place at Aston Cantlowe, the parish church of Wilmcote, in the autumn of 1557 (the church registers begin at a later date). On September 15, 1558, his first child, a daughter, Joan, was baptised in the church of Stratford. A second child, another daughter, Margaret, was baptised on December 2, 1562; but both these children died in infancy. The poet William, the first son and third child, was born on April 22 or 23, 1564. The latter date is generally accepted as his birthday, mainly (it would appear) on the ground that it was the day of his death. There is no positive evidence on the subject, but the Stratford parish registers attest that he was baptised on April 26. Contributor Bio:  McDonald, John John McDonald has researched the history of the Halton area since 1970, an interest which started when he began inquiring into the Limehouse and Dolly Varden areas where he spent his youth as the eldest of nine children. As a boy he felt the presence of the past as he roamed through old ruins of lime kilns and mills, which motivated him to collect old photographs and memorabilia and to write about local people and places. A founding member of the Esquesing Historical Society and former member of Halton Hills and Halton Region Councils, John takes a keen interest in the community and has helped to awaken a new interest in this area's history.
