The film is a historical spectacle starring Charlton Heston as El Cid, one of the greatest Spanish heroes of all time, who is also one of Hollywood's most famous actors. -In the 11th century, Spain is under the threat of invasion by the Muslim Moors. El Cid (C. Heston), a young brave general, saves a village from being attacked by the Moors on his way to a wedding with his girlfriend Simene (S. Lauren). Desiring peace, he releases his enemies from captivity, but this leads to a violent religious war and a struggle for the throne, and he finds himself at the mercy of a tumultuous destiny. El Cid, once exiled and in exile, stands up for his country, his people, and peace in the face of an attack by Moorish leader Ben Yousaf (H. Rom) that threatens the very existence of his nation.
