Chopin: Nocturnes, Mazurkas, Berceuse, Sonata, Opp. 55-58

Maurizio Pollini, eminent chopinist of his generation, continues his chronological re-exploration of late masterpieces by Frédéric Chopin. Here are the opus 55 to 58, works composed between 1843 and 1844. Alongside the Nocturnes op.55 and Mazurkas op.56, Pollini offers majestic readings of the Berceuse and the Sonata in B minor. For Pollini, interpreting closely related works chronologically allows us to grasp the criterion of diversity that guided the composer himself in the programming of his concerts and to highlight the character of each piece in its context.
